I have created many logos and below are a few of the ones that went out into the world. Of course when you start creating a logo there are many options that fall by the wayside as part of the creative process. To start with I like to give the client a varied selection of reasonably loose ideas, nothing too defined, often mono, quite often just a simple line drawing. I want the basic idea to be bought into as a concept, not try and get too bogged down in detail and options for colour, background and typography. That all comes as the process builds and becomes a two way conversation between myself and the client.
Often the logos are the start of long and fruitful relationship, sometimes they are just about the creation of the logo and client takes ownership. When I am fortunate enough to continue to create for a client I like to feel I become a Brand Guardian for that client, the logo is just that, a symbol, or sign to identify a company, product or service. A Brand is something very different. It is something that has many 'touch-points' and it is crucial that those touch-points all give the same message, feeling, values or reassurance. It goes way beyond an arrangement of image and letters. As a Brand Manager or Brand Guardian I like to support the client in continuing to support what they are about or offering.
